Police in Lamwo district have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 30-year-old man, identified as Okwera Denish, a resident of Gai Village, Paloga Sub-county, following a tragic incident that occurred on the night of 29th April 2025.
Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased had gone out for a routine social gathering at a bar owned by Obura David, located in Central Village, Paloga Parish, where he joined friends—among them Kabode Francis and Oloya John Bosco—for an evening of drinking.
According to police, at approximately 1:00 AM, a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) patrol team arrived at the bar and ordered the DJ to stop playing music. During the operation, officers discovered an unidentified man—later confirmed as the deceased—lying in a pool of blood outside the bar.
To prevent the escape of potential suspects and preserve the crime scene, the UPDF reportedly confined all patrons inside the bar until morning.
Police arrived shortly afterwards and began investigations. Statements were recorded from witnesses, and five suspects were arrested and remain in custody to assist with ongoing inquiries.
IP Joe Oloya, the Aswa East Police Spokesperson, confirmed that the case is being treated as a suspected murder and that a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
