Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party bulls, Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Nandala Mafabi, have all declined to step down in favour of the other as they seek election of the party`s top leadership.
While in Amuru district, the FDC party delegates asked the two to reach a consensus and front one candidate, something they say will promote cohesion in the party leadership.
Once elected a party president, the successful aspirant takes the party`s flag to contest for the country`s top leadership position of the presidency in the 2026 general elections.
In response to the requests, Nandala Mafabi says he upholds all respect for his senior colleague Amuriat, but asked him to step aside to give room for fresh brains like him to lead the party.
On the other hand, Amuriat says he is an experienced all-seasoned politician who deserves more time to steer the party and the country, a factory why he will not step down in favour of Mafabi.
The fate of the two will be determined during the FDC party delegates conference set for July 31st of this year.
