Roads in Layibi Central Cell, Pece-Laroo Division in Gulu City, have become nearly impassable after recent heavy rains left them in a sorry state.

Local Council chairperson, Mr. Geoffrey Onekalit, says most of the roads were last repaired years ago and now have deep potholes, with several culverts washed away.

He cited John Onidi Road, connecting to the highway near Sultan Petrol Station, as one of the worst affected the same spot where two fatal crashes occurred late last year.

Other damaged roads include Okello Jokodino, Otto, Bishop Angelo Negri, and Eng. James Okema roads.

When contacted, Pece-Laroo Division Mayor Geoffrey Otim said his office had not been informed earlier but promised urgent repair of the culvert and confirmed plans to tarmac the roads soon and that the survey was done last week. He said on the matter of the spoiled culvert bridge, he will send the engineers to work on it urgently.

Mayor Otim Geoffrey implored the local leaders to always report the matter to his office so that such issues are solved sooner before they go out of hand.
