TotalEnergies EP Uganda has awarded full O-Level scholarships to ten top-performing girls in Nwoya District, recognizing their outstanding performance in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
The scholarships were officially announced on Friday during a ceremony held at the Nwoya District headquarters, attended by district leaders, education officials, parents, and the student beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Mary Josephine Nyakato, the Community Liaison Supervisor at TotalEnergies EP Uganda, congratulated the learners and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to gender-inclusive education. She said the scholarship program is designed to ensure that high-performing girls complete their O-Level education without disruption caused by financial constraints.
The District Inspector of Schools, James Boniface Acelam, applauded TotalEnergies for its holistic contribution to education in Nwoya. He noted that beyond academic sponsorship, the company has also supported co-curricular activities such as music, dance, drama, and sports, which play a vital role in learner development.
District Vice Chairperson Moses Ojok commended the company for investing in the district’s human capital and called upon parents to actively support and guide their children to fully benefit from such opportunities.

The Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Joavento Akena, described education as a “costly but essential investment.” He urged the beneficiaries to remain disciplined and focused, emphasizing that the scholarship is a stepping stone to greater academic and personal success.
One of the beneficiaries, Angel Bethan Adero from Patira Primary School, who scored an impressive Aggregate 10, expressed relief and gratitude, saying the scholarship had lifted a heavy financial burden from her parents.
A parent, Veronica Linda Akello, a single mother, described the support as a lifeline that secures a brighter future for her child and family.

According to Nwoya District education records, 2,485 candidates sat for the 2025 PLE, with 106 students attaining Division One, including 54 boys and 52 girls a performance that education leaders say reflects growing academic competitiveness in the district.
