Water scarcity hits Amolatar town council

Amolatar district leaders on ground accessing the magnitude of the water crisis

A section of business community in Amolatar has decried of the water scarcity that has adversely affected their business.

According to some of the hotel and restaurant owners who are mainly women that spoke to Hot FM News desk said that their business needs water and thereby urged the concerned authorities to come to their rescue.

They said the water scarcity has caused a lot of crowding at the few water sources like wells and boreholes available within the town council.

They added the borehole points at the moment are also asking whoever is fetching water to first make payment ranging from one thousand to three thousand shillings.

On the other hand some people have taken the situation as an advantage of making money.

One of the people selling water a one Abaka who spoke to our reporter said that for the last three days he been selling a jerrycan of water at five hundred shillings.

Anna Adur one of the local leaders in the office of the LC I corner Aputi tasked other leaders to take note of this situation and drill more boreholes within to overcome this problem in the future

Chairman LCI Inomo cell called upon locals to always collect some small amount of money to repair and maintain water sources in their areas.

He said that apparently they are collecting some small fee from the community for the same purpose but not in bad faith.

However when Hot FM contacted the Water umbrella and sanitation manager Amolatar, IsaacOjok, he said that a team of engineers came on ground on Sunday 27th.Nov.2022 to ascertain the magnitude of problem.

Ojok said it was found out that the motor and pump got broken causing failure of pumping the water.

This he says prompted them to order for new spares from Lira that will probably take two to three days.

He however apologized to the customers for the inconvenience caused.
