Amolatar Woman Member of Parliament disburses over 100 million as seed capital

“I started by training the group leaders on the financial discipline that was lead by micro support training centre, and now giving seed capital to all the village saving groups, and l think by doing so my people will be in position to use the village savings to help them send their children to school, pay medical bills and other related problems at the village level,” said Hon. Agnes Atim.

In a bid to fight poverty through improving the saving culture of people in Amolatar the area Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Agnes Atim Apea last year started the project of giving seed capital to the entire village saving groups in Amolatar District.

She last year injected 135 million to the village saving groups with 480 saving boxes that was launched in Agik dak Sub County.

While injecting another 100 million last week in the sub counties of Agwingiri, Namsale, Awelo and Etam respectively, Hon. Agnes Atim Apea urged the saving groups to emulate the saving culture so as to eradicate poverty from the grassroot.

She said that she could not give money for one to eat for one day but thought the best way to make everyone rich is to support the saving groups in order to help the community in long term.

She appealed to groups to manage the saving so as to help each other when need arise.

Hon Atim urged those not in groups to form one so that they can easily access seed capital.

Scovia Kulla, chairperson Anywalwake village, expressed her gratitude for the capital they received from Hon. Agnes adding that their group that is mainly comprised of women will surely use the money well, save and grow as she wishes them.

Another beneficiary Catharine Opio, chairperson Akaoidebe, thanked the MP for giving the saving boxes for it has been hard for them to  keep their monies under the blanket. “We shall now keep and save our money,” added Catharine Opio.

Angu Anna, also a beneficiary from Minangom village Agwingiri Sub County, expressed her gratitude to MP Atim for fulfilling her pledge she had earlier promised them.
