The residents of Obango Parish in Agwingiri Sub-county Amolatar district have united to express their heartfelt appreciation to Retired Colonel Ongia for his recent generosity in supplying murrum, a contribution that has significantly improved a road that had long been in disrepair.
This initiative not only highlights Colonel Ongia’s commitment to bettering his community but also serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative effect one individual can have on local infrastructure.
James Okello, a respected figure in the community, shared his thoughts on the fortunate circumstances that have unfolded. “We are truly lucky to have Colonel Ongia among us,” he remarked, emphasizing how the murrum provided has been crucial in alleviating the severe condition of the road. The enhancements made are anticipated to improve connectivity within the region, thereby uplifting the daily lives of many residents.
Geoffrey Epanya, the chairperson of the local council three in Agwingiri Sub- County, echoed these sentiments while discussing the ongoing challenges faced by the community. He noted that, despite their best efforts, a lack of funding to hire a grader had left them with no choice but to take matters into their own hands. “We have opted to undertake the road excavation ourselves,” Epanya stated, exemplifying the resilience and determination of local leadership in overcoming obstacles.
Eweru Jimmy, a passionate advocate for the community, stressed the importance of continued support from local politicians in this venture.
He urged them to recognize that improving road infrastructure is vital not only for their political aspirations but also for the overall upliftment of the community.
Poor road conditions, he noted, severely limit access to essential services like education and healthcare, while also impeding business opportunities critical for economic development.
However, the collective gratitude of the residents of Obango Parish serves as a poignant reminder of the power of community action and the positive changes that can emerge when individuals step forward to make a difference.
With the combined efforts of Colonel Ongia, local leaders, and hopefully more backing from politicians, the future appears promising for the residents, paving the way for enhanced accessibility and growth in Agwingiri Sub- County.
As Retired Colonel Ongia Francis prepares to contest for the Kioga County parliamentary seat in the 2026 elections, his dedication to community service stands as a testament to his values and vision for a brighter future.
