Over 400 pupils of Ogogong P/S in Aloi subcounty in Alebtong have dropped out of school due to the effect of flash floods.
Amos Otode, the school headteacher said out of 1200 who registered at the beginning of this term, only 712 completed the term because flash floods cut off some roads connecting leaners to the school.
Otode said this forced some learners to drop out of school adding that some shifted to other schools especially those from the neighboring subcounty of Abia.
He said most of the staff houses in the school have been submerged and teachers are now taking shelter in classrooms.

Geoffrey Onyanga, the chairperson Primary Teachers Association -PTA of the school said flash floods have hugely affected the well being of learners and teachers.
Onyanga said they held an emergency PTA meeting on 1/12/2025 and resolved that parents contribute 20 bricks per child to help them fix the staff houses calling for support from leaders and well wishers.
Meanwhile, the LC1 chairperson of the area, Joel Ayang Dibala said flashfloods have also destroyed; crops, houses and latrines of over 30 households rendering them vulnerable.

David Kennedy Odongo, the LCV chairperson of Alebtong district district said floods have affected locals and some schools in subcounties neighboring River Moroto like; Adwir, Abia, Omoro, Aloi and Adwir.
He expressed dismay that the disastor management committee office is located at Kampala which is not easy to accesss in case of emergencies making it hard to help in such situations.
