Amolatar district receives UGX 150 million science teaching kits

The Ministry of Education and Sports has provided science teaching kits worth UGX 150 million to primary schools in Amolatar District.

The District Education Officer, Peter Obote, said Amolatar is among 29 districts nationwide to benefit from the initiative.

He explained that the kits will be distributed to 20 primary schools—15 best-performing and five worst-performing schools in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

According to Obote, the targeted distribution aims to both sustain good performance and support poorly performing schools to improve learners’ achievement in science subjects.

The Amolatar Chief Administrative Officer, Rhoda Oroma, urged teachers to make proper use of the science kits to enhance science learning and improve overall school performance.

She commended the government for the support, noting that the science kits will help strengthen the foundation of science education at the primary level.

Meanwhile, Ambrose Tumuramye from River Flow International, the company contracted by the Ministry of Education and Sports to assemble and distribute the kits, said the equipment will promote practical learning.

He added that hands-on teaching will help learners understand science concepts more easily compared with the previously theoretical approach.
