Four year old boy burnt to death in Apac, two suspects arrrested

Police in Apac District have arrested two women to assist with investigations into the suspected arson murder of a four-year-old boy in Ibuje subcounty.

The LCIII Chairperson of Ibuje Sub-county, Alex Ogota, says the tragic incident occurred on May 30, 2026, in Te-Boke Village, Tarogali Parish.

According to Ogota, the boy’s grandmother, Susan Auma, reportedly left him alone in the house at around 8 p.m. while she went to a nearby shop. On her return, she found the house engulfed in flames.Ogota says efforts by residents to rescue the child were unsuccessful as the fire spread rapidly and could not be contained in time.

Preliminary reports suggest that unknown individuals may have deliberately set the house on fire while the child was inside.He has called on residents to remain vigilant and urged police to intensify operations to ensure peace and security in the area.

The Deputy Clan Chief of Lipa Clan, to which the deceased belonged, says the fire is suspected to be linked to a misunderstanding between the family of Susan Auma and a neighbour.

He says two women have already been arrested to assist police with investigations into the matter.Cue in: Okori on the arrests.

The Deputy Clan Chief of Lipa Clan called for thorough investigation in to the matter.

Meanwhile, the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema, has identified the suspects in custody as Agnes Abang and Juliet Seseliki.

Okema adds that police are still searching for Kenneth Ogwal, who is suspected of masterminding the alleged arson attack.
