Police in Oyam District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of an 18-year-old man whose body was found lying along the Kamdini–Lira Road.
The deceased has been identified as Denis Owiny, a peasant farmer and resident of Alyec Village in Aber Sub-county.According to Jimmy Patrick Okema, the police spokesperson for North Kioga, Owiny left his home on the evening of May 16th to attend a dancing event at the bar of Patrick Ogwang in Adak A Village, Ocini Parish, Kamdini Sub-county.He said his body was later discovered at around 5:00am on May 17th by residents who found him lying in the middle of the road with severe injuries believed to have been caused by moving vehicles.
According to Okema, residents alerted the area LC One Chairperson, who later informed police about the incident.The case was officially reported to Oyam Central Police Station by 64-year-old Bosco Enin, a resident of Alyec Village.He said a team of detectives and uniformed officers led by the Oyam District CID Officer, ASP Lucy Ayoo, visited and documented the scene before the body was taken to Anyeke Health Centre Four for postmortem examination.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish what exactly happened before the deceased was found on the road and to identify possible suspects connected to the case.
