A Primary Seven candidate from Begomery Primary School in Lira City has died following a road accident involving three candidates who were travelling to their examination centre this morning.

The deceased was riding the motorcycle carrying the three candidates to Ober Primary School examination centre when an oncoming vehicle reportedly forced them off the road, causing them to crash.

According to Patrick Olwit Ogwang, the Lira District Inspector of Schools, the deceased sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Rapha Clinic in Akia before being referred to Lira Regional Referral Hospital, where he later died.

Ogwang says the second candidate sustained head injuries and bruises on his arms and legs. He is still receiving treatment at Rapha Clinic and has been unable to continue with his examinations.

The third candidate also sustained a head injury but was given first aid and discharged. He later returned to the examination centre and continued with his examinations.

Ogwang has expressed sadness over the incident, which has disrupted the examinations of the affected candidates.
