Dokolo police recover 240 government hoes in Agwata

Police in Dokolo District have arrested a man in Agwata Town Council over alleged unlawful possession of government items.The suspect, identified as Patrick Ocuku, was arrested after residents tipped off authorities about the suspected illegal possession of the items.

According to the Resident District Commissioner of Dokolo, Babra Akech, police officers from Dokolo Central Police Station mounted an operation that led to the recovery of 240 hoes.

Akech said the hoes were taken to Dokolo Central Police Station as exhibits to aid ongoing investigations.

She explained that the recovered hoes are believed to be part of the 49,019 hoes recently donated by the Office of the Prime Minister for distribution to residents of Dokolo District. However, some intended beneficiaries in Agwata Town Council reportedly missed out due to alleged misappropriation of the government items.

Akech has now urged residents of Agwata Town Council and the wider Dokolo District to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of corruption to police and local leaders adding that hoes will be distributed to the intended beneficiaries.

She also called upon leaders across the district to work together in fighting corruption from the grassroots level in order to improve service delivery within communities.
