Uganda Local Government Association (ULGA) has slated November 12 and 13, 2026, for its elective Annual General Meeting to choose new executive leadership and shape local government policy priorities for the next two years.
According to an official notification dated September 17, 2026, issued by ULGA President Andrew Moses Awany, the elections will form part of the umbrella body’s general assembly proceedings.
Awany emphasized that voting eligibility will be strictly restricted to fully paid-up member districts and sub-counties, in accordance with ULGA’s constitution.
The association is currently evaluating bidding municipalities to determine the host district for the two-day summit, with an official announcement expected in the coming weeks.
During the previous AGM held in 2024 at Lira Hotel in Lira City, delegates elected Awany, the former LC5 Chairperson for Kole District to succeed Richard Rwabuhinga as ULGA President.
ULGA serves as the primary advocacy body for local governments in Uganda, representing district leadership and sub-county authorities before the central government to address administrative challenges, fiscal decentralization, and service delivery bottlenecks.
