Police arrest woman over alleged murder of seven-year-old boy in Dokolo

Police in Dokolo District have arrested a 30-year-old woman in connection with the alleged murder of her seven-year-old stepson in Bata Town Council.The incident is reported to have occurred on Sunday night, August 16th, 2026, in Ongoceng Cell, Southern Ward, Bata Town Council.The deceased is a seven-year boy.

According to North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Patrick Jimmy Okema, police received a report on Monday, August 17th, after the boy’s body was reportedly discovered inside a grass-thatched house belonging to his stepmother, Akello Sharon.

Police say preliminary findings indicate that the boy and the suspect had slept in the same hut on the night of the incident.

Okema says the exact circumstances surrounding the boy’s death are still under investigation, and police have opened a murder case.He says detectives, the Scene of Crime Officers and other police personnel visited the scene, where witness statements were recorded and the body recovered.

The body was taken to Dokolo Health Centre Four mortuary pending a postmortem examination.Akello Sharon remains in police custody to assist with investigations, while the case file will be submitted to the Resident State Attorney for legal guidance.

Police have appealed to the relatives of the deceased to remain calm and allow investigations to proceed without interference.
