Police in Kwania District have launched investigations into a tragic case of mob justice that claimed the life of a student at Abongomola Seed Secondary School.
According to Jimmy Patrick Okema, the police spokesperson for North Kioga, the incident occurred in the early hours of 29 April 2026 at around 12:05 a.m. at the school located in Ogwok A Village, Abongomola Sub county. The case was later reported to police at about 2:34 a.m. by the school’s Deputy Headteacher, Stephen Adupa.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Lukori Solomon, a Senior Four boarding student and resident of Imeny Village in Chawente Sub county.

Okema said preliminary findings indicate that Solomon was accused by fellow students of stealing property from the boys’ dormitory. A group of students reportedly overpowered the school watchmen and chased him for about 400 metres towards Ogwok Trading Centre, where they apprehended him.
He said the group allegedly assaulted him using sticks and bricks, causing severe injuries. He was later taken back to the school and placed in the staff room, where he later died.
Police from Kwania Central Police Station, led by the District OC CID and supported by homicide detectives and Scene of Crime Officers, visited the scene and documented evidence. Statements have been recorded from the school administration, the deceased’s family, and other witnesses.
The body was taken to Aduku Health Centre IV Mortuary for a postmortem examination. Exhibits believed to have been used in the assault, including sticks and bricks, were recovered.
Two student leaders, identified as Egaru Douglas and Okello Ivan James, have since been arrested to assist with investigations.
The GISO of Abongomola, Ronald Opio, said the incident forced school authorities to send pupils home for abrupt closure of the school today.
