Falling tree kills man in Kwania district

A 20 year old man has died after being struck by a falling tree in Atongtidi Sub-county, Kwania District.The incident occurred on Thursday at around 4:00 p.m. in Ayat Village, Goi Parish.The deceased has been identified as George Odongo.

According to Amos Oculi, the deceased’s grandfather, Odongo, a member of the Inomo clan, had climbed an anthill to cut branches from a tree in the garden when the tree suddenly fell on him.

Oculi explained that the tree struck Odongo on the head, causing him to collapse to the ground. He added that all efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful.

Patrick Otwili, the LC1 chairperson of the area, confirmed receiving reports of the incident from residents who called to inform him.

He described the incident as tragic and unfortunate, and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
