15 suspects escape from Dokolo Central Police Station

Police in Dokolo District are searching for eight suspects who remain at large after 15 suspects escaped from Dokolo Central Police Station on September 12, 2026.

The suspects allegedly overpowered a female cell guard who was manning the cells at the time of the incident.

North Kioga Police spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema, says the incident happened after one of the suspects requested to be taken out for a short call.

Okema says as the guard opened the cell door, another suspect allegedly struck her from behind, causing her to fall down.He says the incident gave the suspects an opportunity to escape from the cell, although some remained behind.

Police have since re-arrested seven of the 15 escapees, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining eight.Okema says police are working with local leaders and sub-county police officers to track down the suspects still at large.

He has called on residents in Dokolo and other parts of Lango to remain vigilant and provide police with any information that could help in the arrest of the remaining suspects.
