Senior police officer arrested over attempted rape in Kole barracks

Police in North Kyoga Region have arrested a senior officer over an alleged case of attempted rape that occurred within Kole Police Barracks in Kole District.According to the regional police spokesperson, SP PJ Okema, the incident reportedly happened on April 21st, 2026 at around 1:30 PM.

The suspect, identified as D/ASP Ebong Dickens Louis, the District CID Officer attached to Kole District, is accused of luring a 19-year-old female student, Adong Patricia of Akalo Comprehensive Secondary School, to his residence under false pretenses.

It is alleged that the officer promised to give the student a history book reportedly brought by his sister. Upon arrival, he is said to have paid for her transport and invited her into his house. Once inside, he allegedly locked the door and demanded sexual intercourse.

Okema added that when the victim questioned the presence of the supposed sister, the suspect reportedly claimed she had stepped out.Police say the suspect then allegedly forced the student onto a bed, partially undressed her, and attempted to sexually assault her.

He said the victim reported that although there was inappropriate contact, no penetration occurred.The situation was reportedly interrupted by noise from outside and a phone call to the suspect. He is said to have stopped, dressed up, and hid the victim under the bed before locking the room.

However , she was later rescued when other police officers returned to the premises in the company of the suspect and opened the door.The case was reported to Kole Police Station later that evening by a 63-year-old retired UPDF corporal, Olila William, a resident of Banya Cell in Kole Town Council.

Police have since visited and documented the crime scene, recorded statements from the victim and her family, and issued a Police Form 3 to facilitate a medical examination. The suspect has been arrested and formally charged.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing, with efforts focused on obtaining and analyzing the medical report, further interrogating the suspect, conducting a medical examination on him, and confirming the victim’s age.

Police have strongly condemned the incident, particularly noting the seriousness of alleged abuse of authority by a law enforcement officer. They have reassured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice is served and urged anyone with additional information to come forward as investigations continue.
