Over 5000 Special Police Constables have been passed out from Lango sub-region to provide security in during the 2026 elections.

The Regional Police Commander for North Kioga, Wesley Nganizi said they passed out 2448 SPCs from the districts of Kwania, Kole and Oyam in an event which took place in Lango College and 3306 from the districts of Amolatar, Alebtong, Lira and Lira City at Dr Obote College both in Lira City.

Nganizi thanked them for being patriots willing to provide security for the people of Uganda and urged them to be disciplined while on duty.

The DPC Lira who headed Dr Obote College tqraining wing, SP Lillian Aceng said she’s impressed that all those who were recruited for training turned up and completed the exercise.

Aceng also said there was a set back because during the recruitment exercise some pregnant and breatfeeding mothers camouflaged and were recruited yet they couldn’t handle the training well.

Moorine Akullu, the district registra for Lira called on the recruits to guide the vulnerable and persons with disabilities so that they elect people of their choice but also warned them against drunkardness during work time.

Some of the police constables who spoke to our reporter promised to use the knowledge they got from the training well and ensure there is sanity during election.
