Local leaders surrounding Teso Bar and Corner Kamdini cell in Lira city west division have intercepted 3 cattle which were allegedly stolen last night.

The incident was confirmed to our reporter this morning by Calvin Ojuka, the LC I chairperson of corner Kamdini cell. Ojuka said the rate of theft in the area tends to increase during the rainy season because theives are not easily noticed in the rain.

This, according to Ojuka prompted him to be alert at 2am as there was heavy rain last night and he noticed some strange movements in the area.He said upon coming out, he saw a group of 4 youth moving with 3 cattle which looked suspicious and when he and some people around the area tried to reach out to them, they took off.

Ojuka said he believes the catttle might have been stolen from the areas of Ngetta in Lira city east division and Ogur Sub county in Lira district because the suspects came from Lira-Kitgum road.

He has now appealed to those who lost their animals to reach out to his office since the suspects ran, leaving the animals behind.

When contacted, Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga police spokesperson said he hadn’t received information about the matter yet. He however expressed dismay at how most cattle theft cases are not reported to police which makes it hard for them to investigate such issues.
