Police in North Kioga have heightened security as Muslims across the region join the rest of the world in celebrating Eid-al Fitr.In his message, Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kioga police spokesperson said as police, they acknowledge the significance of the day and extend their warm wishes to all the Muslims.
Okema however said during festivities, criminal elements often attempt to take advantage of celebrations to engage in unlawful activities like housebreaking, theft, robbery and defilement among other related offenses.
He also added that festivities tend to increase risks of road traffic accidents due to heightened movements and gatherings.For those reasons, Okema said security agencies have heightened alertness across the region.
According to Okema, the CCTV Control Room will operate on a 24-hour basis to monitor activities, while both foot and motorized patrols led by Unit Commanders will be intensified in and around urban centers and other strategic locations to ensure public safety.
He also appealed to all community members to remain vigilant, safeguard their property, and promptly report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest security personnel or police station for quick response from their standby teams.
