Masindi Authorities to Launch Operation against Emyooga Program Defaulters

21 January 2024, 10:10 am

The deputy Resident District Commissioner for Masindi, Sanon Dhaala, announced plans for a security operation targeting defaulters of the Emyooga program.

During the Masindi Municipal Emyooga Chairpersons Review Meeting held last evening (Saturday) at the municipal chambers, Dhaala emphasized that certain Emyooga SACCO members, particularly leaders, have deliberately neglected to clear their arrears, contradicting the program’s objectives.

Dhaala issued a four-day ultimatum to defaulters, warning of impending arrests if they fail to repay their loans.

The move aims to enforce compliance with the program’s repayment requirements.

The upcoming scrutiny by the State House team underscores the importance of addressing issues within SACCOs to ensure the effective implementation of government programs in Masindi.

Emyooga is a word derived from a local Ugandan language (Runyankore) to refer to specialized skills enterprises/groups.

It is a presidential initiative aimed at wealth and job creation.

The Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job creation (Emyooga) was launched in August 2019 as part of the broad government strategy targeting to transform 68% of homesteads from subsistence to market-oriented production with the overall objective of promoting job creation and improving household incomes.

Emyooga was launched by H.E the President of Uganda in August 2019 as part of Government’s continuous strategies to transform 68% of Ugandan homesteads from subsistence to market-oriented production.
