A man in his 40s is living in fear after his wife allegedly chased him out of their house and attempted to burn him alive, sparking a dramatic intervention by local authorities.
Charles Tumusiime, the husband, sought refuge at the office of Kagadi’s RDC, Lillian Ruteraho, fearing for his life amidst escalating conflicts with his wife, Agnes Kengonzi.
The couple resides in Kasoga Trading Center Lc1, in Kasoga Parish, Muhorro sub-county.
Tumusiime recounted harrowing experiences of his wife’s purported brutality, culminating in her alleged attempt to buy petroleum to set him ablaze inside their home.
Local leaders, including Muhorro sub-county Lc3 Apollo Muhumuza, confirmed Tumusiime’s distressing accounts and expressed frustration at failed attempts to reconcile the couple.
Efforts to summon Agnes for resolution talks proved futile as she reportedly refused to cooperate.
Reacting to the alarming situation, RDC Ruteraho promptly intervened, visiting Kasoga Trading Center last evening (Monday) to address the conflict.
However, Agnes declined to attend the meeting, prompting strong condemnation from Ruteraho.
Ruteraho emphasized the need for respect and condemned Agnes’ actions as a display of impunity.
She directed Agnes not to return to their shared residence without official clearance from her office, aiming to ensure the safety and well-being of Tumusiime.
