Ministry of Health launches mass measles immunisation campaign in affected districts

The Ministry of Health yesterday announced a mass immunisation campaign in response to a measles outbreak that has severely impacted children in several districts.

She Made the remarks during a press briefing while at the headquarters of ministry of health in Uganda’s Capital Kampala.

The most affected districts include Amuru in northern Uganda, and Kamuli, Mbale, Butebo in the eastern part of the country and Kagadi in western among others.

Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng emphasised the urgency of the situation, highlighting the critical need to protect children under five years old.

Kagadi District Health Educator Justine Tumwebaze Aisha stated that the ministry is collaborating with development partners to ensure widespread immunisation coverage. The immunisation drive is scheduled to take place from the 21st to the 23rd of this month.

Tumwebaze urged parents to bring their children for immunisation and to report any suspected measles cases to the nearest health center promptly.
