World Vision began its work in Uganda in 1986, helping communities in the Luwero triangle in central Uganda to resettle and rebuild their infrastructure following the 1981–1986 war. After 15 years of dedicated service, World Vision Uganda officially concluded its operations in Kagadi district on 27th August 2024.
The organisation has been instrumental in promoting children’s rights, improving hygiene and sanitation, and combating domestic violence in the Kiryanga, Pachwa, Kicucuura, and Kabamba subcounties. At a ceremony marking the end of their mission at Bugwara Primary School in Kicucuura subcounty, James Kaahwa Businge, the Head of World Vision Uganda, urged beneficiaries and local leaders to sustain the achievements made over the past decade and a half.
Lillian Ruteraho, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kagadi, was the chief guest at the event. She expressed her gratitude to World Vision Uganda for their tireless efforts and requested that they continue to support the local government in Kagadi district, even after their official departure.
World Vision Uganda’s legacy in Kagadi district is characterised by significant improvements in the lives of children and families.
