Cult violence claims 10 lives in Kagadi

Murder, in criminal law, the killing of one person by another that is not legally justified or excusable, usually distinguished from the crime of manslaughter by the element of malice aforethought.

A gruesome attack attributed to the “God Holy Spirit Son Man-Man” cult has left 10 people dead and 9 injured in Muzizi village, Busswaka parish, Kyaterekera sub-county, Kagadi district.

The incident happened last night at around 8Pm.

The deceased are Isakara Yokonia, 76, Kabugho Inora, 64, Kabugho Oliver, 13, Baluku Fedinand, 13, Masika Kabagenyi, 3, Kabugho Anifa, 4, Muhindo Praise, 7, and Muniyrambe Boniface, 41, who had come to rescue.

The injured are Muge Julius, 6, Mukundirwa Elmos, 49, Mbambu Joyce, 28, NZabara Rogers, 27, Biira Christine, 24, Kyakimwa Zipora, 40, Masereka, 6, and Biira Burungi, 6, all hospitalised at Kyaterekera clinic, People’s clinic, and other facilities.

Security forces neutralised the two suspects, Baguma Obed, 33, and Munyirambe David, 36, during arrest.

According to Fred Talemwa the Lc3 chairperson, the motive stemmed from a dispute over cult teachings.

The Kagadi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Lillian Ruteraho confirmed that the suspects were killed after attempting to confront security forces.

The Albertine region Police spokesperson, SP Julius Allan Hakiza, noted that security forces are investigating the matter.

Security agencies, including UPDF, police, and ISO, remain deployed in the area to conduct investigations.
