A toilet is a piece of sanitary hardware that collects human waste such as urine and feces, and sometimes toilet paper, usually for disposal.

The Kagadi district council has decided to close the Kagadi Community Hall due to its poor condition and inadequate sanitation facilities.

This decision followed an announcement by the District Speaker, Magezi Muwonge, who yesterday relocated the council meeting to the Muhorro town council offices because the community hall lacks proper toilets.

The hall previously had toilet facilities, but they were demolished due to their poor state. Speaker Muwonge emphasised that the council had earlier notified the Kagadi District Local Government about the urgent need for renovations, including the construction of new toilet facilities. However, no action has been taken.

As a result, the council’s next scheduled meeting on December 20th will be held at a selected subcounty unless the necessary renovations are completed.

Several councilors have expressed frustration, blaming the Kagadi District Local Government, led by the executive committee, for failing to provide basic sanitation at the community hall.

Kagadi District LC5 Chairperson Ndibwami B. Yosia clarified that the district is still operating within the constraints of the previous financial year’s budget. He, however, assured the council that plans for renovating the community hall, including the construction of proper toilet facilities, are being harmonised and will be addressed once the budget allows.

Councilors raised concerns about the potential health risks posed by the lack of toilets, stating that they would rather travel to other locations for meetings than use a facility that fails to meet hygiene standards.
