The Minister of State for Economic Monitoring, Beatrice Akello Akori, has commended Agago Good Hope Nursery and Primary School for its continued efforts in nurturing the young generation to value education.
The minister made her remarks on 27 November 2025, during the sixth graduation ceremony of the kindergarten section, which celebrated 27 graduates this year.
The school has also recorded impressive academic results. In the district Primary Six Term Three exams, Agago Good Hope produced two First Grades, 14 Second Grades, and three Third Grades, emerging as the best among the six primary schools in Lamiyo Sub County.
One of the graduates, Abonyo Ruth Philly, expressed joy and excitement as she prepares to transition to primary school next year. The school headteacher, Okello Walter, expressed optimism, noting that in 2026 they will, for the first time, have their own Primary Seven candidates sitting national examinations.
The school director, Odonkoneyro Vincent Opio, highlighted that the school now has an EMIS number for both the nursery and primary sections, officially recognising it under the Ministry of Education and Sports. He encouraged parents and guardians to enrol their children to support the continued growth and success of Lamiyo Sub County and the district at large. The school currently has an enrolment of 200 learners.
Representing the Education Department, Okidi John Calvin praised the school’s achievements, noting that out of the 26 administrative units in Agago District, Agago Good Hope has lifted Lamiyo Sub County into the top five performers in the second-term district exams. He commended the combined efforts of teachers, school administration, and parents.
Agago Good Hope Nursery and Primary School is located in Labworokema Village, Lamiyo Sub County, Agago District.

In a related development, in Pader District, parents of Holy Angel Nursery and Primary School have been urged to take an active role in the development of the institution by being more committed and supportive.
Speaking during the school’s 18th graduation ceremony, held at the primary section in Olokilee, Lagwai Parish, Rose Filder Lalam, the Assistant District Education Officer (DEO), reminded parents that private schools operate differently from government-aided schools, which receive full state support.
Lalam emphasised that without parental commitment, the school cannot progress, as private institutions rely heavily on financial contributions from parents to run their activities and improve learning standards.
According to the school director, Florence Alum, the school currently has a population of 150 pupils—excluding the Primary Seven candidates who have completed their examinations—and an additional 75 children in the nursery section. The institution is supported by 13 teaching staff and four non-teaching staff.

The Ministry of Education and Sports’ 2025 school calendar for Uganda began on 2 February 2025, with the first term concluding on 2 May. The second term ran from 26 May to 22 August, and the third term started on 15 September, ending on 5 December. The calendar included a total of 262 learning days, with holidays scheduled between the terms.
