Teachers in Nakaseke District were subjected to sit for exams that pupils did during the mocks last year to test them whether the poor performance of pupils who sat for PLE in 2023 was due to incompetences of teachers or pupils themselves.

The District Chairperson for Nakaseke, Mr. Koomu Ignatius Kiwanuka says that for the last six years the performance of pupils has not been good and it gives the district a bad image. Previously, the chairperson had intentions of examining the teachers. However, his idea was failed by the ministry and other stakeholders.

Fortunately this time round when pupils failed he had to revive the idea and about 40 teachers were called from 15 schools to be tested on the subjects they teach.

The examination were conducated at Nakaseke Butalangu Technical Institute and he suggests that any teacher who will not meet the required pass mark of 60% will go for a refresher training.

The Chairperson says that the same teachers who were selected from the 15 schools will be subjected to sit for PLE come 2024. He also urged all stakeholders like the School Management Committee, Parents Teacher’s Association and the head teachers to work together and monitor the performance of their schools.
