The 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Kamuli Woman MP, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has commended Becky’s Child Foundation for its efforts in promoting community health and children’s rights.

Kadaga, who accepted an invitation from Becky’s Child Foundation to preside over the Pre-Independence Kidney Health Camp in Kamuli scheduled for 7th October, emphasised that service delivery is a calling and a passion that must be applauded, supported, and recognised.

“It is my passion and commendation for the service you are providing to the community. I will certainly put aside any programme to honour your initiative and commitment to service delivery,” Kadaga told the Foundation’s manager and board member at her office at Kingdom House, Kampala.

She also pledged to connect Busoga’s distinguished pharmacist, Dr Matthias Magoola of Dei Bio Pharma, with local community health initiatives. “I am encouraged to see young people like Becky gaining inspiration and continuing the legacy I have instilled,” she said.

Becky’s Child Foundation CEO, Rebecca Alitwala Mutesi, described the Kidney Health Camp as an Independence Celebration gift to the community and a reminder for people to prioritise their health.

“Mama Kadaga has inspired and mentored us in community service. We will always contribute in any way we can to honour her legacy. This Independence, we are celebrating with a Community Kidney Health Camp and addressing other neglected diseases,” said Becky.

Diana Mugabi, Manager of Becky’s Child Foundation, said it was a great privilege to meet Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga and to be given time despite her busy schedule and numerous demands on her attention. She added that it was particularly humbling that Kadaga readily accepted the invitation for the sake of her people.

“Mama Kadaga is deeply committed to her people. Whenever it concerns them, she does not hesitate to get involved. She is a true asset and treasure to the communities, and Becky’s Child Foundation is honoured to be part of her mentorship,” Diana praised.

Mugabi also clarified that attendees at the Health Camp who are screened for kidney diseases will receive their results and access further medical treatment. She confirmed that the Uganda Kidney Association will also participate.

She urged the public to attend the health check-ups, medical sensitisation, and knowledge sessions, emphasising the importance of preventive rather than curative healthcare.

“At Becky’s, we are committed to our mission of improving the lives of the less privileged and vulnerable. Through God’s providence, we pledge to reach out with love, care, compassion, and hope. Let us turn up in large numbers to celebrate our Independence through health,” she concluded.
