The community has been urged to view women as partners rather than limiting them to the role of housewives responsible only for childcare and domestic duties.

Speaking at the launch of Women Entrepreneurs Month held at Kingdom Kampala today, November 1, 2025, and spearheaded by the Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association (UWEAL), Dr. Rimond Mugume, a psychologist, emphasised that women should be allowed to enjoy the benefits of entrepreneurship and be given equal opportunities to exercise their abilities when they arise.

UWEAL, in partnership with other organisations, brought together over 500 women entrepreneurs from across Kampala for the event. The gathering marked the official launch of the Women Entrepreneurs Month, a campaign dedicated to empowering, inspiring, and promoting women in business across Uganda.

The two-day event features activities such as mental health dialogues and market days, bringing together women entrepreneurs, health practitioners, and development partners for wellness, networking, and enterprise engagement. These activities aim to promote women’s health and productivity, recognising that good health is the foundation for sustainable entrepreneurship.

Held under the theme “Healthy Woman, Wealthy Nation,” the initiative highlights the strong link between health and economic empowerment.

Activities lined up include sensitisation about the GROW Project, capacity building for women entrepreneurs on the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), fitness sessions, mental health discussions, a car wash drive, garage sales, and market exhibitions showcasing products and innovations by women entrepreneurs.

UWEAL officials participate in a physical fitness session during the event.

The Chairperson of UWEAL, Ms. Elizabeth Kasenene, called on both the community and women to prioritise their health as a key factor in achieving business success.
