Kamuli District has registered a fatal accident in which four people died following a road crash involving a sugarcane-laden Fuso Fighter truck and a motorcycle along the Kamuli–Namasagali Road in Bulunda Village.

The incident occurred on April 10, 2026. The deceased have been identified as:

  1. Mudumba Grace, an adult male and resident of Naibowa, Butansi, Kamuli District (rider)
  2. Nanzala Lydia, 38, female, resident of Naibowa, Butansi, Kamuli District
  3. Makayi Stephen, 40, male, resident of Busiba Cell, Southern Division, Kamuli Municipality
  4. Balinaine Charles, 42, male, resident of Busiba Cell, Kamuli Municipality

All four victims died instantly at the scene.

According to preliminary findings, the crash occurred at approximately 5:50 PM. The Fuso Fighter truck (registration number UAM 983F), loaded with sugarcane, and the Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration number UDL 411N) were both traveling in the same direction from Namasagali towards Kamuli.

Upon reaching Bulunda Village, a Sinotruck lorry approached from the opposite direction. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver of the Fuso truck swerved sharply to the right, lost control of the vehicle, and caused it to overturn. The falling truck and its sugarcane cargo landed directly on the motorcycle rider and his passengers, burying them under the heavy load. All four died on the spot.

The driver of the Fuso truck fled the scene and remains at large.

Police have strongly cautioned all drivers, especially those operating heavy goods vehicles, against dangerous evasive maneuvers such as sudden swerving, which can lead to loss of control, overturning, and fatal consequences for other road users. Drivers are advised to reduce speed gradually, brake safely when possible, and avoid reckless overtaking or abrupt directional changes, particularly when approaching oncoming vehicles on narrow roads.

Motorcyclists and passengers are also reminded to maintain a safe distance from heavy vehicles and to remain vigilant at all times.

Inquiries are ongoing. Police are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing Fuso driver to report to Kamuli Central Police Station or the nearest police station.
