A local community village Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) has distributed 600 chicks to farmers affiliated with the Kisaikye East and West Development SACCO, valued at Shs 6 million, in Kavule A zone, Kisaikye parish, Namasagali sub-county, Kamuli district.
The 120 beneficiaries from surrounding villages have been economically empowered through the provision of Saso variety chicks, which are one month old, aimed at enhancing their livelihoods and addressing issues related to economic gender-based violence in rural areas.
During the handover of the chicks, Julius Ntende, the patron of Kisaikye East and West Development SACCO, urged the beneficiaries to adopt vigilance and specialization in their endeavors.
He underscored the significance of acquiring knowledge and adapting contemporary farming techniques to enhance income levels and improve economic standing.
Mr. Ntende urged the formation of associations to facilitate collective marketing of their products, rather than pursuing individual sales.
“Agricultural products are highly valued and in great demand globally and I therefore strongly encourage you to establish market associations to improve both the production and marketing of these goods, as the chicks provided to you possess high value, resilience, and strong market appeal,” He pointed
Mr. Ntende indicated that as economic challenges intensify, a downturn in the poultry sector is likely.
He emphasized the necessity for them to cultivate a substantial number of high-quality birds to satisfy the demands of domestic, regional, and international markets through agricultural marketing enterprises.
Mr. Ntende recommended that they cultivate social capital by associating with individuals of integrity and reputable backgrounds.
He noted that the approach will empower them to invest in their children’s education, ultimately yielding benefits in their later years.
As a business economist and scholar, I strongly encourage you to cultivate social capital with individuals of substantial influence rather than those who are merely recipients. Additionally, it is important to maintain an optimistic outlook than pessimism” He said.
He also recommended that they enhance the value of their products by ensuring high quality, engaging in commendable practices, and adhering to a professional dress code, particularly if they aspire to progress to a higher level.

“Consistently maintain relevance by strategically positioning yourselves at the most opportune moments,” he stated.
Samuel Kyebogola and Hawa Kawala expressed their gratitude for the substantial material support provided by Mr. Ntende, stating that it will elevate their efforts and address issues related to economic gender-based violence.
“We are sure that this is a milestone achievement in our long journey to attain economic independence from our husbands who have been battering us for a long time and believe it’s the genesis of our break through” Ms Kawala said
