NGos support community participation on climate change and environmental management.

Non government organizations are having a big hand in engaging buyende communities and supporting them is different fields of environment, climate and day to day’s life style management. According to the one of the officials from CHAIN Uganda a non government organization implement INCLUDE project supporting the community though participatory inclusiveness with support from SNV funded by United kingdom of Naitharland Mr Atukwasa Augustus’ they aim at reaching the community and get their views and know how to support them by giving them knowledge to how to leave with the environment and climate changes. A case in point is Busambira village in buyende town council where the group noted the dry spell and proposed to have one nursery bed where each member could get at least 50 seedlings and plant with few years to come they would have planted a lot forest on the village and would help on rainfall formation.

speaking to us in an interview Mr Atukwasa said they are also supporting them by giving out seeds for dodo to support their life and income generation

While addressing the gathering at Busambira community, the community members commended the working relationship between the NGOs and buyende district local government and said this will benefit them in a long run. In addition the community also said they are doing communal work where some impassable roadsrand bushy are cleared through bulungibwasi slogan that’s why even chain Uganda brought the equipments to use like hand hoes rake and whillbrarrows among others worthy millions of money.

The chairman local council five for buyende district district commended the work done by the CHAIN and said they are going to continue working together and promised that next month the national cleaning day shall be with the community in the ame area so that they can talk more about environment and climate change.

CHAIN Uganda with support from SNV with funding from the Embassy Kingdom of Netherlands (EKN) is implementing the INCLUDE project in Buyende using the PIP methodology of realizing an individual current status and projecting future aspiration while using the available resources. CHAIN is implementing a number of activities in agriculture and livestock value chains with emphasis of improving a farmer luvelihood

Buyende district is one of the 11 district in busoga sub region which is prone to environment and climate change due to the type of land they have and under the cattle corridors and when dry spell comes it hits them a lot and results into femine and attention is needed to save them. With a population of over 300,000 people approximately.
