Following several incidents of violence during the ongoing NRM primary campaigns, security operatives held a meeting with the Kamuli Municipality MP candidates.

The meeting, chaired by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), was attended by the Regional Police team led by the Regional Police Commander (RPC), the District Internal Security Officer (DISO), and the District Police Commander (DPC) Kamuli, along with her team.

The candidates were urged to control their supporters to avoid chaos and refrain from provoking one another, a message that was also emphasised by the RPC.

Prior to the meeting, there had been reported cases of assault and malicious damage to vehicles.

The meeting resolved the following:

  • Each candidate must end campaigns by 6:00 PM.
  • A maximum of three vehicles will be allowed per candidate, with no processions permitted.
  • Candidates must regulate activities at the so-called political shrines.
  • Candidates should avoid campaigning in central business areas.

Security operatives reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that all individuals found culpable are prosecuted.
