Ugandan president called for harmonisation on utilisation of wetlands.

speaking to the Media after his campaign tour from Kamuli and Luuka president yoweri kaguta museveni had a press conference at his state lodge in Busoga where he had notable advises to the people of Busoga on climate and environment which is alarming and affecting the community. President says though people are tied on rice growing in Westlands and swamps but they need enough time to discuss and change their mind set and utilize them in profitable Way. He also said wetlands are under utilized in away that they grow mostly rice yet they can do other profitable activities who can’t even distort wetlands such as fish farming, and use that very wetland for irrigation process on the uplands where they can grow other food whereby even rice can grow . The also noted that they will not use violence to chase the community but they will have the humble way of doing so.

On side of the environment, the president said the community should populaze irrigation and protect the environment by mulching by using those papyrus grasses from the wetlands.

while replying to the question asked by those being chased from the forest area by National forest authority, the president said they are going to organize and settle out those issues.

The NRM flag bearer for Buyende district and eying for Buyende district seat Mr sharif managariene asked the community to embrace trees planting and adopt the fish farming so that they can leave the wetlands Free and be utilized for other activities. Just like Mayuge district Buyende is one of the districts which is surrounded by water body and wetlands.
