Ten confirmed dead in Busowa road accident

At least 10 people have been confirmed dead in a horrific road accident that occurred this afternoon in Busowa Town Council, along the Bugiri–Tororo highway.

The tragedy unfolded when a speeding taxi, registration number UBN 817H, reportedly travelling from the Busia–Iganga direction, lost control and collided with a stationary trailer, registration UA 647BA, which had been parked on the roadside.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said the impact was so severe that several passengers died instantly, while survivors sustained life-threatening injuries. “The taxi was moving at a very high speed. The driver attempted to overtake but failed and crashed straight into the trailer,” one witness recounted in shock.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to a nearby health facility for identification, while the injured have been admitted for emergency medical care.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
