Leaders from Paidha Town Council in Zombo District have made a study visit to Lira City East Division to explore revenue growth strategies.

Speaking at the Lira City East Division headquarters, the Assistant Town Clerk for Paidha Town Council, Wilfred Okethwengu, said the visit is intended to help them gain knowledge on better ways to improve development in the area as they prepare for municipality status in the future.

He said the level of local revenue in Paidha Town Council is low because they have fewer revenue sources compared to Lira City East Division, adding that they are optimistic about learning how to create more revenue streams.

Lydia Mosango, the Deputy Mayor of Paidha Town Council, said the area is still lagging behind in terms of development across various sectors, including education and health, and they intend to address these issues for the betterment of the local community.

She noted that the town currently has only Paidha HC III, which they hope to upgrade to Health Centre IV status to better serve the community, as some residents spend considerable time and money seeking healthcare services from more distant locations.

The Mayor of Lira City East Division, George Okello Ayo, expressed his excitement, attributing the area’s high revenue growth and development to the unity and hard work of the local leaders.
