George William Omony, the forecasting Services Manager, Uganda National Meterological Authority said he has been receiving concerns from some farmers asking if they can plant trees during this period.

However, he said farmers should not think of planting trees during this period because the current rains will stop before the year ends adding that they are not yet sure of when the rainy season will resume next year.

Omony urged farmers to grow crops like vegetables to help adress food insecurity because they take little time in the garden and also rallied the locals to store rain water for future use especially to help provide water for animals and domestic use.

On the other hand, locals in some parts of Lango have expressed concern about the impact of rain in their well being.Johnny Stephen Ocen, the LC1 Chairperson of Barapua village, Alir Parish said the road network in the area has detoriated attributing it to the high level of rain experienced in the past and rain being experienced recently.

He said this has hindered business and transportation in the area because people can not transport their produce for sale.
