Residents around Apak Bridge, which borders Alebtong and Otuke districts, have discovered the body of an unidentified woman packed in a sack.
According to the LC1 Vice Chairperson of Apur A Village, Agweng Parish, Igombolola Alango in Otuke District, Mr. Tonny Odom, the incident occurred at around 6:00 pm on December 22, 2025.
Odom explained that the body was first discovered in the morning by young girls who had gone to collect firewood near the bridge. Out of fear, the girls did not report the matter immediately but later informed their parents in the afternoon.
He said the deceased is suspected to be between 20 and 25 years old. Local leaders in the area contacted police from Alebtong District to help retrieve the body, as they believe the woman was killed elsewhere and her body dumped near the bridge.
The Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Otuke District, Mr. Isaac Opeo, confirmed the incident, noting that police from Alebtong were contacted because the Alebtong police station is closer to the scene than Otuke Police Station.
Opeo called for increased vigilance among residents during the Christmas period and urged them to report any suspicious individuals to police and local leaders for further investigation.
The deceased’s body was taken to Alebtong Health Centre IV pending a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.

According to information released by the Deputy Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department (OC CID) for Alebtong District, Mr. Francis Tabu Oyoo, the case was registered at Alebtong Central Police Station under CRB 221/2025.
Oyoo said police visited the scene, examined and documented it, and recovered the suspicious sack found under the bridge. A search was also conducted in the surrounding area.
He added that police observed blood oozing from the deceased’s nose, no signs of rigor mortis, and visible signs of torture on the back of the body. He further noted that there are high chances the deceased was sexually assaulted before being murdered.
