Dokolo house fire: child burnt to death, another left with injuries

One child has succumbed to arson after fire gutted a grass thatched house in Dokolo district.The LC1 Chairperson of Apyen village in Agoba parish Kwera subcounty, Emmanuel Ojok said the incident happened at 10 pm on 25/12/2025.

Ojok said there were two children in the house the deceased who’s male and 2 year old girl adding that the incident happened when there parents were not at home.

He said it’s alleged that the parents and children on went to hangout on the 25th/12/2025 and went back home at 9pm but his colleague called him to get alcohol.

Ojok said when Hellen Adero, the wife of Bosco Omara had that her husband was going to get alcohol, she decided to go with him but before they reached where they were going, fire erupted at their home.

He said upon seeing the fire, they went back home only to find that the 4 year old child was burnt to death and the 2 years old was rescued by neighbors hough with burns in the hands, stomach and thighs.

According to him, the body of the deceased was later handed over to the relatives while the other child was rushed to Kwera HC3 and later transferred to Dokolo HC4 for proper medication.

He said it is not known what caused the fire because there was no fire in the house and they have no electricity in the area.

Meanwhile, Bosco Omara the father of the children urged police of Kwera subcounty to carry out investigation into the matter because he suspects that some unscrupulous people may have intentionally burnt his house.
