Police in Dokolo District have arrested two people over the alleged kidnapping of a prophet.

According to Denis Ower, the LC3 Chairperson of Kangai Town Council, the victim is Peace Muwandu, a 28-year-old housewife and prayer intercessor.

Ower said local leaders received information from her husband, Robert Oyo, that she left their bedroom at around 4 a.m. on 11 February 2026 to go outside and did not return.

He added that Oyo went outside to check on her but found her blouse and sandals scattered within the compound. After searching the home, including the toilet, bathroom, and nearby neighbours’ homes, she was still missing.

Ower said Oyo then proceeded to Kangai Town Council Police Station to report a suspected abduction. The victim was later found by a passerby in a forested area in Alit Cell, Angai Ward, who alerted community members and the police.

He said the victim was found unconscious, with her hands, legs, and mouth tied using nylon ropes and a black cover. A knife was also recovered from the scene.

Ower added that the victim was rescued and taken to Kangai Health Centre III for medical treatment.

He added that upon receiving the report, a case of abduction was registered at Kangai Town Council Police Station, and statements were recorded from relevant witnesses.

The crime scene was visited and thoroughly documented by police in Dokolo. A Police Form 3 was issued to facilitate a medical examination, and exhibits, including nylon ropes and a black cover used to restrain the victim, were recovered, documented, and secured as evidence.
