NRM leadership in Puranga town council has been urged to mobilise its members and work towards strengthening relationships among them.

The call was made during a function held at Puranga Primary School, located in Awete cell, Ginnery parish, Puranga town council in Pader district. The event was attended by the LC3 Chairperson of Puranga town council, the Officer in Charge of Puranga Police, the NRM Chairman Puranga, and the LC1 of Awete cell.

Hon. Paska Menya Aciro, Woman Member of Parliament for Pader district, while addressing the people of Puranga town council during the donation of 12 wheelchairs to persons with disabilities on Sunday, pointed out the divisions caused by the recent NRM party structure elections in the district.

“People have been divided as a result of this election,” Aciro noted, urging the party leadership to work towards uniting its members.
“Those who didn’t win are still NRM, and those who won are also NRM. Therefore, there should be a gathering of all members to foster a strong relationship, especially with the general elections due next year.”

Aciro also took the opportunity to congratulate Hon. CD Oketayot Lowila on her victory as the new NRM Chairperson for Pader district.

Meanwhile, in her continued efforts to uplift marginalised groups in the community, Hon. Aciro donated 12 more wheelchairs to persons with disabilities in the greater Puranga area.

On Friday, she had also distributed 12 wheelchairs in the greater Atanga zone at Atanga Health Centre III.

The beneficiaries in Puranga included:
Bonny Opiyo (20), Santa Anying (75), Tonny Ojok Lagum (13), Mary Nava (21), David Okwang (59), Denis Ojok (22), Stephen Opiyo (13), Eveline Anying (80), Peter Ojok (28), Janet Adong (15), George Opiyo (25), and Gai Ojok (50).

The benefiting subcounties were: Puranga Town Council, Puranga, Lunyiri, Lapul, Awere, and Pader.

Hon. Aciro advised parents and guardians, especially of the younger beneficiaries, to stay close to them and offer support, as they may not yet be familiar with using the wheelchairs.
