Police in Pader District on Sunday, December 21, 2025, issued security guidelines to residents ahead of the Christmas festivities, urging the public to remain vigilant against criminal activity.
Speaking during a community policing programme aired on Luo FM, the Pader District Community Liaison Officer (CLO), Agwar Jimmy, outlined measures aimed at ensuring the safety of children, holidaymakers, and the general public during the festive season.
With Christmas Day just two days away, Agwar revealed that the district has over the weekend received 28 additional police officers to reinforce security. The officers will support law enforcement efforts, including night patrols and maintaining law and order across the district. This he said will as well done with the help of the recently 1,720 special police constables for Pader and Agago districts passed out at Alarm Technical and Peace Building Center in Pader district.
Agwar called on civilians to cooperate with police officers while on duty and cautioned residents against unnecessary late-night movements. He warned that individuals found roaming aimlessly at night risk being arrested and detained for interrogation before release if found innocent.
He also warned members of the public locally known as “aguu” to be cautious with their planned activities, noting that police will not tolerate acts that disrupt public peace.
Meanwhile, Latit-Lok Patrick, a resident of Agengo Sub-county in Agago District, appealed to religious leaders to continuously guide believers on the true meaning of Christmas so that celebrations are conducted responsibly.
Agwar further warned that anyone found engaging in criminal acts such as housebreaking, defilement, rape, robbery, public violence, or fighting will face the full force of the law. He urged parents to closely monitor and protect their children from wrongdoers and encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity to the police.
Last week, the Pader District Resident State Attorney, Ivan Kyazze Evans, issued a stern warning to parents who engage in negotiations that facilitate crimes such as the marriage of girls below the age of 18. Speaking during a stakeholder engagement meeting organized by the International Justice Mission (IJM) at the Pader Magistrate’s Court Hall, Kyazze cautioned that such actions attract arrest and prosecution.
Kyazze also urged police to take keen interest in monitoring and addressing public criminal activities, especially during the festive season.
