The LC V Chairperson–elect for Pader District, Alfred Akena of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has pledged to work closely with young people to promote environmental protection across the district.

Speaking to the media after being declared the winner, Akena said his campaign focused on engaging youth in tree planting and conservation as part of efforts to tackle climate change and environmental degradation.

He urged residents of Pader to support the initiative, noting that it aligns with global efforts under the United Nations framework to create a greener world by 2031.

Meanwhile, Beatrice Ayenyo, the female councillor representing Pader Town Council, said voters had chosen the right leader to revitalise the district. She described Akena as a listener who values community input, citing his past leadership record.
