Muhoozi Kainerugaba (born 24 April 1974) is a Ugandan military officer and the eldest child of President Yoweri Museveni.

He serves as the Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) and is the chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (a pressure group lobbying for presidency).

Kagadi district has launched a week-long tree planting campaign as part of activities marking the 51st birthday celebrations of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The drive kicked off yesterday May 26th in Kyenzige town council and will run until May 30th, concluding in Muhorro town council.

The initiative aims to plant 4,000 trees in over 10 town councils and subcounties, including Mabaale, Burora, Rugashali, Kyaterekera, Mpeefu, Kyakabadiima, Kanyabebe, Galiboleka, Bwikara, Nyakarongo, Rutete, and Isunga.

The campaign was officially launched by James Byarugaba, aspiring Member of Parliament for Buyaga West and Chief Coordinator of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in Kagadi.

He planted the first tree to symbolise the start of the environmental initiative.

Speaking at the launch, James Byarugaba urged residents to take active roles in nurturing and protecting the trees.

He emphasised the importance of the campaign in mitigating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.

They praised his commitment to environmental protection and encouraged the community to support both the initiative and his parliamentary aspirations.
