Filbert Ayebale was a Golden Soccer Academy Goalkeeper, a football team based in Kagadi town.

A tragic incident occurred yesterday evening at Shimo Resort Hotel in Kagadi Town Council, Kagadi District, when a young man drowned in the hotel’s swimming pool.

The deceased has been identified as Filbert Ayebale, a resident of Kyakabugahya Cell, Kibanga Ward in Kagadi Town Council.

According to the hotel’s Public Relations Officer, Jocious Tumukwasibwe, Ayebale arrived at the hotel with seven friends.

While five of them engaged in a game of football in the swimming pool for leisure, Ayebale reportedly slipped into deeper water around 8:00 PM while attempting to kick the ball.

Hotel staff and friends quickly pulled him out and rushed him to Dr. Kakibogo’s clinic in Kagadi town, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Tumukwasibwe noted that Ayebale had allegedly consumed alcohol prior to swimming, which could have impaired his ability to stay afloat, reducing his chances of survival.

As a precaution, swimming pool services at Shimo Resort Hotel have been suspended temporarily, although other hotel services remain operational.
