Tree planting is the process of establishing young trees for purposes such as land reclamation, forestry, or landscaping.
It involves careful preparation, proper hole digging, root management, correct tree placement, backfilling, and consistent watering to support the tree’s growth and ensure its long-term survival.
The Principal Town Clerk of Kagadi Town Council in Kagadi District, John Isingoma, has commended the community for actively supporting the ongoing tree-planting campaign, which aims to green the town and promote environmental conservation.
Speaking to KKCR FM over the weekend, Isingoma expressed his appreciation to residents who have embraced the initiative.
He noted that many have gone the extra mile to protect the young trees from damage by stray animals such as goats and cows.
Isingoma called on the public, especially residents along Kabalega Street, to remain patient as the final phase of tree planting and gap filling is completed.
This phase is being conducted in partnership with Kagadi Kibaale Community Radio (KKCR) FM.
He noted that the final batch of tree seedlings, originally scheduled to be planted during KKCR Radio’s Silver Jubilee celebrations on 21 August 2025, will be planted once the World Wide Fund (WWF), the project’s supplier, delivers the expected high-quality species.
