Some officers under Chegere police outpost in Chegere sub-county Apac District have come under fire recently for being too corrupt in discharging their duties.

Among other things, the officers are being accused of are gross negligence by conniving with hardcore criminals who are later left scot-free even at an expense of full exhibit, abuse of office and also drunkenness.

The Chegere Sub-county Internal Security Officer Mr. Okello Jimmy accused the law enforcers of fighting justice. This was during a security meeting recently held in Adem Trading Centre in Chegere Sub County Apac District over the rising cases of human bloodsheds in the area.

Okello said these actions put people in more awkward situation and they end up losing trust in the police.

He alleged that they have got series of cases to be handled by police for quite sometime, but they have never been forthcoming to address them which makes the community think police are easily compromised. “These are the things swelling the level of insecurity in my sub-county,” he said.

His statement was re-echoed by Mr. Charles Dickens Okello the LC 3 Chairperson Chegere Sub-county who alleged that most police officers taken on transfer to his area are always those who are too old and most of them are quotidian drunkards who are habitually off in times of dire need.

Speaking to Radio Apac on the matter, Apac District Police commander, Mr. David Wills Ndaula expressed surprise on the development saying the accusations imposed on the officers hasn’t yet reached his desk promising to act accordingly if the allegations turn to be true.

Ndaula said his office is always open for community to report such allegations in case they are observed noting that as police they took oath before undertaking their duties and they are to live by noting that whosoever violate, he or she is subjected to disciplinary actions.

The meeting was centered towards a call to identify those that are behind killing and robbing of innocent people in the area which has of late been on the rise.

Six people are said to have been mysteriously killed by unknown thugs in Chegere sub-county, Apac district from December last year to date, namely, Mr Apala Ambrose, Ms Betty Ojaa, Ogobi Nelson, Ojudu Tom, Oringa and one other person who couldn’t be identified by press time.
